Dates: August 17-21, 2026 — SOLD OUT —> WAITING LIST
Description
This 5 – Day Class, led by museum collected furniture master David Lamb, features each student making a classic end table, with the main focus being a study in transitions; specifically where carved transitions are used in furniture parts such as legs, where moving from square to round.
During the class, David will provide clear and thorough demonstrations of the carving process. Then each participant will begin by producing sample blocks of carved variations working with a carved leaf theme. This will give the participant some experience using basic carving techniques and minimal tools. Several variations will be explored. Some previous experience with carving is helpful.
The table itself will be a mortice and tenon project made in solid cherry. Each leg will be carved with a transitional detail on supplied legs. Each participant has the option to choose their favorite transition detail to carve and apply to all the legs OR can choose to carve each leg differently showing the various examples as preferred.
The tabletop has carving opportunities for a related carved detail. If time allows, carved corner details will also be carved in the top.
This project can be a companion piece to the Exquisite Settee project.
